Justin G. Bitner, CFP®, ChFC®

Professional

As a wealth manager, Justin helps clients accumulate, advance, and pass on wealth. The goals seem simple, but the complexities of investments, tax, business, estate, and risk management can be overwhelming; which is why Justin’s clients turn to him. Justin acts as the CFO for his clients, who include prominent business owners, executives, professionals, and retirees. For Justin, one of the most rewarding parts of his work is when clients have an “aha” moment: when they leave a meeting, saying that finally, for the first time, they understand a concept or its importance to their financial plan.

Justin started his career in 1995 and was a founding member of Sterling Financial Group. His firm is focused entirely on the client, and in keeping with that purpose, Sterling Financial has chosen to affiliate with one of the best independent broker/dealers in the country, Commonwealth Financial Network®. Over the years, Justin has received numerous awards and recognitions from Commonwealth, honoring his work with clients and his approach to financial planning. Because of his prominence in the financial services community, Justin has access to some of the top minds in the country, and regularly talks with economists, investment experts, behavioral finance gurus, and many other industry leaders. A sought-after speaker, Justin has helped educate thousands of individuals on topics such as portfolio diversification for volatile markets, economic implications, retirement success strategies, succession planning for business owners, risk management, and behavioral finance.

A graduate of Utah State University with a B.S. in finance, Justin also holds his FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 securities registrations. Justin has always loved to learn, and he has studied and worked hard to advance his professional expertise over the years. He undertook the grueling course work and examinations to earn the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP®) designation in 2000, then went on to earn the Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) and Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designations. Recently, his comprehensive work with retirees has compelled him to undertake the Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP) designation, so he can ensure he brings the best ideas on retirement income to his clients’ plans.

Personal

Justin and his wife, Celeste, live in Kaysville, Utah, with their five daughters and one son, ranging in age from 20 down to the twins at age 10. Justin’s family is proud to be fourth-generation sheep ranchers, and he jokes that even though he wears a tie to work, he absolutely knows how to get the dirty work done. Justin’s children claim they appreciate the ranch even more than he does, and are always eager to visit. Whether it is four-wheeling camping or fishing, Justin loves the time spent there with his family. An avid outdoorsman, Justin enjoys hunting and fly-fishing in the mountains, skiing the fresh powder in the winter, and hitting the golf course in the summer. While some in the Bitner family are crazy for tennis, most of the children are competitive soccer nuts. Justin coached his children’s soccer teams for nine years, and was also a leader in the Boy Scouts of America for eight years. He currently serves the youth of his church on a weekly basis, preparing them for their volunteer missionary service and sharing insights learned from his own mission in Korea and that of his oldest daughter, who is currently serving her mission in Finland.
